Hölgykő Vára is a small medieval castle ruin located in the forests between Városlőd and Csehbánya in Hungary’s Bakony Mountains. Built in the second half of the 13th century, likely by the powerful Csák family, the fortress occupied a strategically positioned rocky hill surrounded by streams and woodland. The castle was never a major military stronghold but served as a local administrative and forestry center. Historical records mention it as early as 1310, and it later became associated with the royal forestry administration of the Bakony region. In 1364, King Louis I granted the castle and surrounding lands to the Carthusian monks of nearby Városlőd. The fortress was subsequently demolished, and its stones were reused in the construction of the monastery. Today, only modest remains survive, including traces of walls, the former entrance, and a deep stone-lined cistern. Although little of the structure is left, the site is valued for its historical importance and its peaceful natural setting within the Bakony landscape.
