Erdődy-Hüvös Kastély is a historic castle located in the Botfa district of Zalaegerszeg, western Hungary. Originally built around 1750 by the influential Erdődy family as a Baroque manor house, it was surrounded by landscaped parkland and served as the center of a large estate for many generations. In the late 19th century, the property was expanded and remodeled by owner Áron Hirschler, who added new wings and romantic architectural elements. The estate later passed to József Hüvös, whose family name became permanently associated with the castle. After World War II, the castle lost its original purpose and was used for a variety of community functions, including a school, workshop, cinema, and apartments. In recent decades, restoration efforts have helped preserve the building and give it a new role as a youth center, accommodation facility, and educational venue. Today, the Erdődy-Hüvös Kastély is valued as an important cultural and architectural landmark in Zalaegerszeg, offering visitors a glimpse into the region’s aristocratic history and heritage.
