Kula-Torony, also known as Kula Castle or Kula Tower, is a historic stone watchtower located in Szabadbattyán, Fejér County, Hungary. Built around the 13th or 14th century near an important crossing of the Sárvíz River, it was originally constructed to protect a strategic trade route and toll station. The tower gained particular importance during the Ottoman period, when it was rebuilt and strengthened as a military outpost guarding access to nearby Székesfehérvár. Surrounded by palisades and defensive works, it served as an early warning and defensive position in a region frequently affected by conflict. After the Ottoman era, the tower gradually lost its military role and was later used as a granary. Restoration work carried out in the 20th century preserved the structure, allowing it to remain one of the area's most significant historical landmarks. Today, Kula-Torony stands as a symbol of Szabadbattyán's rich past and houses exhibitions related to local and Ottoman-era history, offering visitors an insight into centuries of regional heritage.
