Tátika Castle is a medieval castle ruin located on a basalt hill near the village of Zalaszántó in western Hungary, within the Keszthely Mountains. The site stands about 413 meters above sea level and offers wide views of the surrounding countryside, making it a popular destination for hikers and history enthusiasts. The castle's origins date back to the period before or around the 13th century. Over time it was owned by several notable families and institutions, including the Bishop of Veszprém. The fortress played an important defensive role in the region but gradually declined after being attacked and burned during Ottoman incursions in the 16th century. Later damage and abandonment left it in ruins. Today, visitors can explore the remaining stone walls and restored sections of the castle, which have benefited from archaeological and conservation work. The ruins are accessible by marked hiking trails and are valued for their historic atmosphere, scenic setting, and panoramic views over the Zalaszántó Basin and nearby landscapes.
