Bela Peč
Grahovše, Slovenia, Slovenia
Bela Peč near Grahovše in northwestern Slovenia features ruins of a late-medieval castle built after 1431 by Count Frederick II of Celje on a 1,120-meter hilltop as a fortified stronghold on the Carniolan-Carinthian border, separating from the Radovljica estate amid ironworking settlements.
This high-altitude seat supported a market town (Weissenfels/Fusine) from around 1456 with mining rights, fairs, and self-governance for fužinarji (iron processors), but the lordship shifted downhill to Jesenice and Kranjska Gora by 1700, leaving the site abandoned.
Ruins persist alongside Kos Manor (1521), once called the "old Belapeč castle," now tied to noble families like Dietrichstein and Khevenhüller in the Upper Carniola landscape.
