Bory Castle is one of Hungary’s most unusual and romantic landmarks, located in Székesfehérvár.

Unlike a traditional medieval fortress, it was built by the Hungarian sculptor and architect Jenő Bory as his personal artistic masterpiece and a tribute to his wife, painter Ilona Komócsin. Construction began in 1923 and continued for nearly four decades. Bory designed and built much of the castle himself, creating a unique blend of architecture, sculpture, gardens, towers, courtyards, and galleries.

The castle contains numerous statues, paintings, mosaics, and artistic works reflecting Hungarian history, culture, and the couple’s lifelong love. One of its most famous features is the Chapel of Marital Love, symbolizing the deep bond between Bory and his wife. Today, Bory Castle operates as a private museum and is one of Székesfehérvár’s most popular attractions, admired for its imaginative design, artistic heritage, and inspiring story of devotion and creativity.
