The Castle of Devecser, also known as Esterházy Castle, is a historic castle in the town of Devecser with origins dating back to the 15th century.

It began as a noble manor house and was later fortified into a small fortress during the period of Ottoman expansion, with walls, a watchtower, and a moat added for defense. The castle passed through several prominent noble families, including the Nádasdy and Esterházy families.

In the late 18th century, it was transformed from a military stronghold into an elegant Baroque residence, and further architectural changes in the 19th century gave it much of its present appearance. Surrounded by a historic park, the castle reflects a blend of medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and eclectic architectural influences.

Its grounds feature mature trees, gardens, and landscaped spaces that add to its charm. Today, the castle serves public and cultural functions, including housing a library, and remains one of Devecser’s most important historical landmarks, offering visitors a glimpse into centuries of Hungarian history.
