The Castle of Markaz in Hungary is a historic site near the village of Markaz in Heves County, situated in the Mátra mountain range. The castle was built by the Kompolti family, who were part of the noble Aba genus, around the late 13th century, approximately between 1270 and 1280.

Unlike many military fortresses, the Castle of Markaz mainly served as a recreational and hunting retreat for its owners rather than a strategic defensive site. The castle was relatively small with a narrow layout and included a tiny courtyard. Some ruins remain visible today, including part of a 6-meter high wall on the southeast side of the rectangular structure.

The castle was likely demolished during the Ottoman occupation in Hungary. Visitors to the site can enjoy impressive views of the surrounding valleys, including the nearby village of Abasár, making it a noteworthy location for those interested in Hungarian medieval history and scenic landscapes.
