Essegvár is the ruin of a medieval hilltop castle located in the village of Bánd, near Veszprém in western Hungary.

Built in the late 13th century and first mentioned in written records in 1309, it served as the seat of the noble Essegvári family and controlled an important route through the Bakony region. Over the centuries, the castle was expanded with stone buildings, towers, defensive walls, a chapel, and residential quarters.

It changed hands several times during political conflicts of the Middle Ages before gradually losing importance. The fortress was likely destroyed or abandoned around 1552 during the period of Ottoman incursions into Hungary. Today, visitors can explore the restored remains of its tower and walls on a limestone hill overlooking the surrounding countryside.
