Károlyi Castle in Nagymágocs is an elegant late 19th-century mansion built between 1896 and 1897 for Count Imre Károlyi, a member of one of Hungary’s most prominent noble families.

Designed in an eclectic Neo-Baroque style, the castle became the center of the Károlyi estate and remains one of the region’s most notable historic buildings. The castle is surrounded by a beautiful 41-hectare landscaped park featuring centuries-old trees, Baroque sculptures, and a 10-hectare lake. Nearby stands a Neo-Romanesque Roman Catholic church built in 1883, adding to the estate’s historic character.

The Károlyi family played an important role in the development of the local area, supporting agriculture, education, and community projects on their estate. Today, the castle remains a landmark of Nagymágocs and is valued for its architecture, parkland, and connection to Hungary’s aristocratic heritage. It currently serves as a social care institution while continuing to attract interest as a historic site.
