Szandavár is a medieval castle ruin perched on a 529‑meter volcanic peak in the Cserhát Hills near the village of Szanda in northern Hungary.

The castle existed by the early 14th century and controlled an important estate with several surrounding villages and lands. Over the centuries, the fortress passed through the hands of several noble families and later came under Ottoman control. In 1551, Hungarian forces recaptured the castle and deliberately destroyed it to prevent it from being used again by the Ottomans.

It was never rebuilt and gradually fell into ruin. Today, only fragments of the walls and tower remain, but the site is a popular hiking destination because of its dramatic hilltop setting and outstanding panoramic views across the Cserhát, Börzsöny, and Mátra regions. The combination of history, scenery, and rugged volcanic landscape makes Szandavár one of the most notable castle ruins in the area.
