Szőcsény is a historic settlement area that today forms part of Somogyzsitfa in Somogy County, southwestern Hungary.

First mentioned in records in 1254, it was an established medieval village with a parish church and later became associated with the influential Szőcsényi noble family. During the Ottoman period, the site gained strategic importance. In the 16th century, a fortified palisade castle was built around the local Gothic church, becoming part of the frontier defense system against Ottoman forces.

The fortress changed hands during the wars and served as a border stronghold for many decades. Today, the area is known as Szőcsénypuszta, a peaceful rural part of Somogyzsitfa. Visitors can find traces of its rich past, including historic buildings, a former estate with a castle and protected parkland, and the remains of the old fortified settlement that reflect the region’s medieval and early modern history.
